Gov. Hochul visits Watervliet school to discuss rebate program for families
Governor Kathy Hochul visited Watervliet Elementary School on Thursday to speak with students and parents.
Gov. Kathy Hochul visited Watervliet Elementary School on Thursday to speak with students and parents.
She said with rising costs making it harder for families to make ends meet, she promises to put more money back in their pockets.
“The $1,000 check for families with children under the age of 4, $500 for older kids, the $500 inflation rebate, a cut in their taxes if they’re middle-class families, but also to cover the cost of school lunches and breakfasts, which is about $1,600 a year,” said Hochul. “That’s all back in their pockets – adds up to almost $5,000.”
The governor is also planning to distribute free diapers and other supplies for 100,000 babies, and advance a nation-leading legislative proposal to improve maternal and infant health.
