Greenfield pair accused of committing welfare fraud

Two people from Greenfield are accused of committing welfare fraud.

Lisa C. Walker, 43, is accused of submitting an online application to the Department of Social Services for Supplemental Nutrition Program with false information, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

Jamil Y. Fate, 31, also allegedly made a false statement on a written document misrepresenting his involvement with the submission of the application and a phone interview with a county SNAP examiner.

Walker was charged with offering a false instrument for filing and forgery and attempted welfare fraud. Fate was charged with making a punishable false written statement and welfare fraud.

Both were released on their own recognizance, pending future court dates.
