Moe’s Southwest Grill in Wilton expects to reopen soon after fixing code violations

The Moe’s Southwest Grill in Wilton is expected to reopen soon, after it was closed by the town because of code violations, according to a spokesperson for the restaurant.

During routine testing of the sprinkler system and carbon monoxide alarms by the landlord, the fire alarms were set off by accident. That prompted a fire department inspection and the identification of minor fire safety code violations, the spokesperson said.

This included the need for a push bar on the back door and more frequent inspections of the fire suppression system in the kitchen, according to the company.

Among the other issues identified by the town were cleaning the oven hood to remove accumulated grease and soot, fixing the electrical heater in the rear of the dining area, replacing an electrical outlet behind the cooking fixtures and removing appliances that are in a state of disrepair.

The franchise owner said they have addressed all issues and are waiting for a follow-up inspection. The restaurant could reopen as soon as Friday.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story said that the business was shut down by the state health department. It was shut down by the town of Wilton for code violations.
