This summer, high school students interested in nursing and healthcare had a unique opportunity to attend a summer camp hosted by Nurses Middle College Capital Region.

The camps were free and open to all students going into grades 9th and 10th.

Ally Hoy went to join them at the Belanger School of Nursing in Schenectady to show us how this program is designed to provide benefits that extend far beyond just a week of learning.

“The reason why we did this camp is to provide them with a glimpse of what they would receive at nursing school at a high school level,” says Chief Nurse Program Officer Jenny Santana. “All of the classes that psychologists, PT, doctors and nurses take, those foundational courses are taken at the high school level, and it just expedites their path to nursing.”

The charter high school encourages students to register, as spots are still open in the fall.
