A new initiative by Gov. Kathy Hochul is trying to help solve chronic homelessness around the state.
Hochul announced Wednesday that $34 million is going toward the Safe Options Support Initiative.
The program, which has been rolled out in New York City, is now being expanded across the state. That includes the Capital Region. The Safe Options Support Program has added four teams, one which will support the Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga counties.
The program helps connect vulnerable people in crisis to housing and services.
