Housing resource fair helps seniors, veterans in Pittsfield
A housing resource fair was held in Pittsfield Thursday morning to help people in need find stable and secure housing.
There were also community organizations there to help seniors and veterans.
The resource fair is just one of the ways the city is working to serve more people in the community.
The city is working on creating a housing resource center, according to Justine Dodds, the city’s director of community development.
It would be a place where people can get access to basic needs and services in one central location, such as having a warm place to be during the day, getting mail, showering and eating, she explained.
Based on the success of previous housing resource fairs and the growing demand in the city, Pittsfield’s Homeless Advisory Committee plans to hold more of these events on a regular basis.
