Hydrant flushing may cause water discoloration in some Capital Region communities

Cities are conducting hydrant flushing in your area.

This helps make sure the city’s water system is safe and efficient. Cities warn of temporary discoloration and difference in water pressure, but they recommend running your water for a little bit.

In the city of Schenectady, they will be conducting hydrant flushing during normal business hours until May 16.

In Troy, this will go until May 6.

The city of Pittsfield is finishing their flushing on Friday.
