The man accused of committing deed fraud to steal a Schoharie County man’s home pleaded not guilty to the charges on Wednesday.
Joseph Goodnough is charged with two counts of grand larceny.
Goodnough allegedly knocked on the door of David White in Cobleskill and asked to buy his house. White eventually agreed and signed tax transfer papers. White was eventually served an eviction notice and told to get out of his house.
White’s attorney, James Sottile, told NewsChannel 13 that Goodnough has retained a new attorney. He is now being represented by Lee Greenstein.
The case is being handled in Schenectady County Court because Goodnough allegedly met White at a Stewart’s Shops on Broadway to complete the transaction, according to court documents.
Goodnough is due back in court on June 13.
