The next meeting to discuss concerns over the future of the historic Stuyvesant Falls bridge is set for Oct. 17.

Residents have expressed concern by the proposal to replace the existing bridge carrying County Route 25A over Kinderhook Creek.

Town officials said the plan would provide a new structure designed to meet updated safety standards and improve traffic flow.

They also said it would also install sidewalk facilities and widen the roadway shoulders for people to walk and bike.

Some residents have wanted to save the historic structure.
