The Scotia Fire Department is opening a new fire station today.

The firehouse is located at 138 Mohawk Ave.   

The new station has many features that were not possible with the old station, the fire department said. It includes better accessibility for people with disabilities, separate changing and bathroom facilities, a decontamination area and better storage for gear and equipment.

The Scotia Fire Department has been around since 1873.
