New hotel expected to bring more jobs, tourism to Schenectady
There’s a new hotel coming to Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady.
The new Hyatt House will be five stories tall and include 100 rooms, along with a pool, gym and bar, according to The Galesi Group. It will include 75,000 square feet of space.
The project will bring more jobs and money into the area, according to Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara.
The hotel represents Schenectady’s “ongoing growth and development,” according to Santabarbara.
“This investment will have a substantial positive impact on our local economy and solidify our reputation as a top-tier destination,” he said in a statement. “I’m proud to offer my support to this initiative and look forward to the benefits it will bring to our community.”
“The new Hyatt at Mohawk Harbor is another step forward in transforming the former Alco site into one of the largest and most successful waterfront developments in New York State,” Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy said in a statement.
Site work is already underway, and hotel construction will start once required city approvals are done.
This will be the third hotel in the area, joining a Courtyard by Marriott and the Landing Hotel at Rivers Casino & Resort.
