New leader takes helm at National Guard headquarters in Troy

New York Army National Guard Lieutenant Colonel Katie Schin has taken command of the 42nd Infantry Division’s Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion.
A ceremony took place at the division’s headquarters in Troy, earlier this month. The information was just released on Tuesday.
Schin, who is from Ballston Spa, joined the National Guard back in 1998. She served 11 years as an enlisted soldier, achieving the rank of sergeant first class before direct commissioning as an officer in 2009.
Schin replaces Lt. Col. Bryon Linnehan, who commanded the battalion for three years.
