New York City man accused of scamming $40,000 from elderly victim

A New York City man is accused of scamming an elderly person out of more than $40,000 in Montgomery County last month.

The victim got an email in November, saying they had bought cryptocurrency, investigators said.

The scammer convinced the person they had been a victim of fraud and demanded money from them several times, investigators said.

Earlier this week, troopers say Zixiong Wang arrived at an agreed-upon location in Amsterdam to collect money and was arrested.

Police believe more suspects were involved in this scam.
