Police: Albany man assaulted person, held them against their will

An Albany man is accused of holding someone against their will and assaulting them.

An Albany man is accused of holding someone against their will and assaulting them.

Jacob F. Muniz, 23, allegedly assaulted the victim and injured them during a dispute in a New Scotland residence. This began on the evening of June 11, and continued into the next morning, State Police said.

Muniz also allegedly refused to leave the home, damaged property and stole the victim’s phone to prevent the person from calling for help. He also damaged the victim’s vehicle while in Albany, police said.

Muniz faces two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of assault as well as grand larceny, unlawful imprisonment, criminal trespass and criminal mischief.

He was arrested at his home in Albany, where he was hiding and refused to come out at first.

He was then sent to Albany County Jail to await arraignment.
