Police: Chestertown man hit victim with baseball bat, held them against their will

A Warren County man is accused of holding a person against their will and assaulting them with a baseball bat.
State Police said Izik J. Sanders, 19, of Chestertown, was involved in a domestic incident on March 23 at a home on County Route 29 in the town of Minerva. He allegedly struck the victim in the back of the head with his knee.
Sanders is accused of sending a threatening text message to the victim, later that day.
Sanders allegedly held the victim against their will on March 25 in the bedroom and hit them multiple times with a baseball bat. He also held scissors to their neck and applied pressure to the victim’s neck using a dog leash, police said.
The victim eventually escaped. Sanders fled the scene. The victim was taken to Glens Falls Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Sanders was later found and arrested. He was charged with kidnapping and two accounts each of assault, menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was sent to Essex County Jail on bail of $250,000 cash or $1 million bond. He is due back in Essex Town Court on March 31.
