Police: Latham man stole over $3,000 from storage unit

A Latham man is accused of stealing more than $3,000 worth of items from a Halfmoon storage container.

State Police received a report of a burglary on the afternoon of Oct. 21. Ron D. Vandenburgh, 36, allegedly had entered the property around 2:30 a.m. earlier that day.  Police said he used a power tool to damage and remove a lock from a storage container and took materials from within it.

The public helped identify Vandenburgh as the suspect after his picture was released on State Police’s social media platforms.

Vandenburgh turned himself in on a warrant and was charged on Dec. 17 with burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief.  He was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
