An Orange County man arrested twice within 14 hours for allegedly having drugs and stealing a car in Wilton.

An Orange County man was arrested in the Capital Region twice in 14 hours.

William J. Mauriello, 38, of Warwick, was stopped on Route 50 in Wilton late Sunday evening for a traffic violation. Mauriello did not have a valid driver’s license, police said. Troopers also found a glass smoking device containing drug residue. They also found new items in the vehicle with price tags attached.

Investigators determined that items – worth more than $700 – were stolen from a nearby store, they said.

Police were called the next afternoon for a stolen car in the area of Ballard Road in Wilton.

They determined Mauriello stole the vehicle from the store and drove it to the location of the traffic stop, investigators said.

The car was found on Lark Street in Albany.

Mauriello was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of stolen property, conspiracy and traffic violations. He was released on an appearance ticket
