Police: Two people tried to illegally withdraw $5,000 from Bethlehem Broadview

Two people are accused of trying to make a fraudulent transaction at a Bethlehem financial institution.

Bethlehem Police said Maria S. Giuttari, 57, of Monroe, entered Broadview Federal Credit Union on Wednesday, Sept. 25 to try to obtain $5,000. Staff at the credit union did not process the transaction and contacted police.

Giuttari and 44-year-old Robert J. Keahon, of Clarkson, were arrested in the parking lot as they tried to leave.

They were both charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and conspiracy. Giuttari faces additional charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance and attempted grand larceny.

They were arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and released under the supervision of Albany County Probation. Both are due back in court on Oct. 15.
