Police: West Sand Lake woman was 3x too drunk to drive

A Rensselaer County woman is accused of driving while over three times the legal limit for drunken driving.

Marla L. Ortega, 43, of West Sand Lake, was pulled over on April 27 around 3:30 p.m., after State Police received a complaint about an erratic driver on State Route 43 in Sand Lake. Troopers found the vehicle running in a nearby parking lot, police said.

Ortega was charged with DWI and other traffic violations. She was taken to the State Police station, where she recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.26%. The legal limit is 0.08%.

Ortega has a previous DWI conviction in the last 10 years. She was issued tickets and is due in Sand Lake Town Court on May 13.
