Rensselaer bridge renamed after New York Guard member who did in crash

State lawmakers have approved a bill to rename the Washington Avenue Bridge in Rensselaer after a New York National Guard member who died in a helicopter crash.

The bridge that travels I-90 is being renamed the CW2 Casey N. Frankoski Memorial Bridge.

Frankoski died on March 8 after a crash on March 8 at the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas.

Frankoski, 28, was a graduate of Columbia High School in East Greenbush and served as a volunteer firefighter with the Best Luther Fire Department. Her father, James Frankoski, served as Rensselaer’s police chief for many years.
