Lawmakers in Rensselaer County are officially asking the state to rescind its approval of the Dunn Landfill.

The Rensselaer County Legislature voted to challenge a permit, which the state had renewed in December. The new permits called for the landfill to reduce its truck traffic by 30 percent, but the county said that’s not enough.

They are also concerned about air quality and the landfill’s proximity to the Rensselaer City School District.
