Road reopens after explosion levels Colonie restaurant
Everett Road is back open after an explosion.
The explosion leveled Pad Thai Noodle Restaurant at 113 Everett Road early Thursday morning. Nobody was in the building or injured when the building exploded.
A call came in around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, with crews arriving quickly to put out the flames, investigators said. Crews had the fire extinguished fairly quickly upon arrival.
Firefighters spent much of the morning putting out hotspots. They said there is catastrophic damage and Northeast Mobility Center and Supply Solutions at 115 Everett Road next door was also slightly damaged, with a door that needs to be replaced. However, they told NewsChannel 13 Thursday that they are open.
The initial thought is that the explosion was caused by natural gas, said West Albany Fire Department Senior Deputy Chief Daniel Sullivan.
A town fire investigator injured was injured from flying debris. They were taken Memorial Hospital. The extent of that person’s injuries is unclear.
