Rotterdam man admits to having gun illegally

A Rotterdam man has admitted to having a gun illegally.

Jesse Taber, 46, pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday.

Taber had a 12-gauge shotgun in December 2023, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He was banned from owning firearms due to a past felony conviction.

Taber is scheduled to be sentenced on April 2. He faces up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to three years of post-release supervision.

He was sentenced in 2018 to 4 years in prison for criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was released in August 2021, according to the state inmate database.
