Schenectady man accused of leading police on chase

A Schenectady man is accused of fleeing from police in Clifton Park last month.
Sheriff’s deputies tried pulling over a vehicle driven by Matthew J. Cotton, 41, on March 5 on Longkill Road. Cotton took off and went more than 25 mph over the speed limit, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Cotton was picked up on Friday on an arrest warrant. He is also accused of violating an order of protection by sending messages to a person.
The charge was upgraded to a felony because Cotton has a previous criminal contempt conviction. He was arraigned in Malta Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail.
