Schenectady man charged in drug trafficking investigation

A Schenectady man is facing charges for allegedly being connected in a drug trafficking incident.

This case started two years ago, when the U.S. Department of Justice said Nekie Ricks, 31, was arrested on August 24, 2022 for allegedly having cocaine with the intent to distribute it and having a gun, despite already being a convicted felon.

Ricks was arraigned Thursday in Albany. A detention hearing was held Friday, and he was ordered detained pending trial.

Ricks will be sentenced to at least five years and up to life in prison if found guilty, plus and a term of supervised release.
