A Schenectady man gets prison time for selling drugs for food stamps
A Schenectady man was sentenced to one year in prison for selling fentanyl in exchange for food stamps.
Omar Alaidrus, 24, admitted that he exchanged the drugs for the benefits at the deli his family owned.
Alaidrus also provided cash for food stamps and allowed people to redeem them for items such as Xanax, alcohol and tobacco that are not allowed, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
He is required to pay around $316,975 in restitution to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Alaidrus will serve 3 years of post-release supervision.
