Sen. Chuck Schumer has announced $215 million in federal funding to replace the Livingston Avenue Bridge. It’s the largest Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement in history, according to his office.
The 125-year-old bridge spans the Hudson River, connecting Albany and Rensselaer train services.
The Livingston Avenue Bridge Replacement Project will develop a new, larger rail bridge with two tracks.
Accommodations will also be made to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe.
