Serial North Adams burglar heads back to prison after new break-ins

North Adams police have caught a suspect wanted in several break-ins this week.
Christopher Jelley had just been released from prison last month after serving two years on similar charges, police said.
Jelley broke into Dave’s Package Store on River Street, early Monday morning, and stole cigarettes and lighters, investigators said.
He’s also accused of trying to break windows at EZ Mart on Ashland Street and Whitney’s Beverage Shop on American Legion Drive on Wednesday.
Jelley was later caught after breaking into the Freight Yard Pub, said police, where he allegedly stole several bottles of liquor.
He pleaded guilty to the new charges, and was sentenced to 18 more months in prison.
