Sheriff: Amsterdam man stole from restaurant’s ATM

An Amsterdam man is accused of stealing from an ATM inside a restaurant.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said Hector L. Rivera, 67, entered the Recovery Sports Grill in the town of Amsterdam on Feb. 19 and took money from the cash box.
The ATM is owned by Nevulis Amusements, where Rivera used to work, according to investigators. After he learned of the death of that company’s owner, Rivera allegedly went into the restaurant on Route 30 to take the money from the ATM.
Rivera was arrested on March 7 and charged with grand larceny. He was arraigned in Amsterdam Town Court and released. He is due back in court at a later date.
