Sheriff: Malta man choked person

A Malta man is accused of choking a person.
Officers responded to a domestic incident at the Budget Inn in the town of Malta just after 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Justin J. Sherman, 40, is accused of assaulting a person with a dangerous instrument. Sherman also applied pressure to the victim’s throat or neck, according to investigators.
Sherman was charged with second-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal obstruction of breathing. He was arraigned in Malta Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail.
The victim was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
