A law that provides essential employment protections for members of the National Guard during state active duty has been signed into law.        

The legislation proposed by Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara redefines “military service” to include state active duty, addressing a critical gap in previous protections.

This is especially important in the wake of hurricanes Milton and Helene, as 65 New York National Guard soldiers and airmen are already on the ground in Florida to assist.
