Stewart’s announces closure of Schenectady store

The Stewart’s on the corner of Consaul Road and Ferris Street in Schenectady is permanently closing.

The store will officially close on Sunday, Stewart’s said.

NewsChannel 13 is told the reason for the closure is because that building is too small to meet the needs of their customers and they do not have the room to expand.

There will be no layoffs, as all workers are staying with the company, Stewart’s said.

There are several Stewart’s nearby, including Ballston Road and Central Avenue.

A new shop is being built in Rotterdam, the company said.
