Stillwater woman facing colon cancer head-on
A Stillwater woman who sings in a popular band is taking on a new role – cancer fighter.
Keri Alonzo is the lead singer of a group called Jukebox Rebellion. She’s also been known to deliver a spine-tingling rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at area events, including the Mother-Lovin’ 5k, the Mother’s Day run/walk put on by Kelly’s Angels.
Alonzo, a mother, was feeling stomach pain and fatigue last spring, and then she had some bleeding.
A colonoscopy in December discovered a very large cancerous tumor. Alonzo and her husband, Jeff, got their crying out of the way and were immediately ready to battle the disease.
Alonzo’s had surgery to remove the tumor and soon will undergo chemotherapy.
