Taxi manager admits to stealing over $650,000 from Medicaid

A Saratoga County taxi company manager has admitted to stealing over $650,000 from Medicaid.

Richard Sehl, 57, pleaded guilty in Rensselaer County Court on Nov. 26.

Sehl was a manager at Medi Cab. He participated in a scheme to bill Medicaid for trips to medical appointments that were not provided. Sehl submitted claims for fictitious trips with fabricated mileage between December 2021 and March 2023, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

He will be sentenced to 5 years of probation on Jan. 27.

This was part of an investigation by Attorney General Letitia James into fraudulent billing and kickbacks. Four other defendants were also convicted in these cases.
