Texas man admits to stealing $240K in checks from Karner Road postal facilty

A Texas man has admitted to stealing more than $240,000 in checks from an Albany postal facility. Sean Walter, 30, pleaded guilty to stealing from the USPS Albany Processing and Distribution Center on Karner Road, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

A Texas man has admitted to stealing more than $240,000 in checks from an Albany postal facility.

Sean Walter, 30, pleaded guilty to stealing from the USPS Albany Processing and Distribution Center on Karner Road, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Walter stole from the facility six times throughout 2023 and 2024, he said.

The stolen checks were drawn on accounts belonging to a town government, a volunteer fire department, and several small businesses.

Walter faces up to five years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for June.
