Three arrested on drug charges after shoplifting incident at Malta store

A shoplifting report has led to the arrest of three people on drug charges.

State Police responded to a report of a shoplifting at a gas station in Malta on

Wednesday. Steven J. Zahaba, 36, of Glens Falls, was found in the parking lot in a vehicle. Kade D. Lapointe, 26, of Hudson Falls, was in the driver’s seat and allegedly provided false identifying information. Karley J. Hooper, 47, was another passenger in the vehicle.

Police found multiple containers of drugs in the vehicle and a glass smoking device containing drug residue.

All three were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Lapointe is also charged with falsifying business records. Zahaba was also charged with petit larceny.
