Troy man admits to federal gun, drug charges

A Troy man has pleaded guilty to federal drug and gun charges.

Richawn McClain, 26, admitted in U.S. District Court on Monday to possessing and intending to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, and to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

McClain had a gun that had been modified into a machine gun, 32 grams of cocaine and more than 900 fentanyl pills, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He also had $22,770 in cash in a bag of narcotics, according to prosecutors. He must give up that cash as part of his plea.

McClain faces a mandatory prison term of up to life in prison and a maximum fine of $1 million.

He will be sentenced at a later date.
