Two charged after investigation into missing vehicle

Two people from Rensselaer County were arrested last week in connection with a missing commercial vehicle.

State Police received a complaint in May 2023 about a possibly stolen commercial vehicle. The victim lives out of state and had reportedly purchased the vehicle from Kenneth W. Thomas, 52, of Berlin in August 2022.

Thomas then reportedly brought the vehicle to a storage lot in Canaan. When the owner attempted to retrieve the vehicle in April 2023, it was missing.

However, police said Thomas never brought the vehicle to the lot and allegedly dissembled it.

Police searched his home in Berlin on Dec. 23 and found multiple parts from the vehicle. During a search of the property, they also found guns allegedly illegally possessed by 34-year-old Nina M. Thomas.

Kenneth Thomas was charged with criminal mischief and Nina Thomas was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. They were arraigned in Schodack Town Court and released on their own recognizance.
