Two commercial properties being redeveloped in Rensselaer
Two commercial properties in the city of Rensselaer are being redeveloped into a Caliber Collision and a retail plaza.
The Rensselaer Planning Commission on Monday approved a plan to convert the site of an Aldi grocery store at 307 Columbia St. into Caliber Collision. Around 15 new jobs will be created, according to a news release.
In addition, there will be a technical training program called Changing Lanes, which is geared specifically for members of the military transitioning into the auto body industry. The program also has supported local food pantries, youth programs and other community projects.
At 49 Columbia St., the site of a vacant carwash will be converted into a retail building. Developer Matt Polsinello has received approval for the project, which will be on the south side of a corridor that also currently has a Walgreens, Dollar Tree, barbershop, St. Peter’s Health Partners Health Center, convenience store and gas station, and used car dealerships.
“These two new businesses will boost the Rensselaer economy with new commercial activity and good jobs for the community,” said Rensselaer Mike Stammel in a statement.

This former car wash is being redeveloped into commercial properties.
