Two people face drug charges after traffic stop

Two people are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Washington County.

State Police stopped a vehicle on Bridge Street in Fort Edward just before 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 for a traffic violation. Elizabeth M. Beckett, 31, of Schenectady, allegedly did not have a valid driver’s license.

Taylor M. Ruddy, 23, of Middle Grove, was a passenger in the vehicle and he initially provided false identifying information, police said.

Troopers found felony-weight narcotics in the vehicle.

Both were charged with six counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Beckett was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and Ruddy was charged with false personation.

Both were sent to Washington County Jail pending arraignment.
