Plans to redevelop Wilton Mall into a new residential and retail center have been scrapped as the mall is now being sold.

The mall owner, Macerich, got approval from the town to build hundreds of luxury apartments and townhomes at part of the mall.

However, NewsChannel 13 has learned that the mall is being sold to the same developer who recently bought Clifton Park Center.

Wilton Town Supervisor John Lant said the closing will take place later this week, and the new owner has plans to revitalize the mall, including bringing in major national retailers.
