Vermont: Nov. 5

 

New York: No document is required to vote, unless you are a first-time voter and ID was not provided upon registration.

Massachusetts: ID is not required, except for some first-time voters. More information here.

Vermont: Only first time voters who have registered by mail have to show ID to vote.

New York: Early voting runs from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3.

Massachusetts: Early voting runs from Oct. 19 to Nov. 1.

Vermont: Early voting runs from Sept. 21 to Nov. 4.

 

New York:

  • Same-day registration will now be offered on the first day of early voting. In 2022, New York did not offer same-day registration at all.
  • All voters are now eligible to apply to vote by mail without an excuse. In 2022, New York allowed all voters to use Covid-19 as an excuse.

Massachusetts and Vermont have no major rule changes since 2022.

  • Deadline to request mail-in ballot: If requested by mail, must be received by Monday, Oct. 21; if requested in person, must be received by Monday, Nov. 4
  • Deadline for mail ballot return: Must be received by Tuesday, Nov. 5, if dropping off in person; must be postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 5, if returning by mail

  • Deadline to request mail-in ballot:Tuesday, Oct. 29
  • Deadline for mail ballot return:Must be received by poll close on Tuesday, Nov. 5, if returning by mail or dropping off in person

  • All registered voters receive their ballot automatically.
  • Deadline for mail ballot return:Must be received by Tuesday, Nov. 5, if returning by mail or dropping off in person
