Albany Police investigating a deadly shooting on Central Avenue
The shooting happened around 5:40 p.m. and took the life of a 30-year-old man.
Albany Police are investigating a deadly shooting incident that happened on Central Avenue Thursday night. This deadly shooting marks Albany’s first homicide of 2025.
Police said a 30-year-old male has died after being shot in his groin.
That shooting happened around 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and Ontario Street.
The male was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel before being transported to Albany Medical Center where he later died.
Police closed off Central Avenue between Ontario Street and Patridge Steet for over three hours.
Police said the name of the victim will not be released until the families have been notified.
Police also tell NewsChannel 13 that a person of interest is being questioned in connection with the shooting.
Albany Police said that there is no threat to the public.
