FIRST ON 13: A prestigious national honor for the Albany County Sheriff. Sheriff Craig Apple has been named the National Sheriff of the Year.
Apple was chosen from more than 3000 sheriffs across the country.
He will be formally recognized during a ceremony next week in Oklahoma City.
NewsChannel13’s Mark Mulholland spoke with him as he prepared to fly out with his wife on a private jet Saturday morning.
