Albany DA candidate representing Shenanigans ex-manager in drug case
Defense attorney and Albany County district attorney candidate Lee Kindlon is now representing the former manager of Shenanigans Gentlemen’s Club in his drug case.
Kindlon, who is seeking to unseat Albany County District Attorney David Soares, is Luigi Canessa’s new attorney. Kindlon entered his appearance as Canessa’s attorney on Wednesday, according to court documents.
Canessa is accused of selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer at his home, less than 300 feet from the Colonie business. He had previously been represented by an assistant U.S. public defender.
Canessa also told federal investigators that he distributed meth, cocaine and marijuana from his residence. His arrest is part of a larger investigation into allegations of drug trafficking and sex trafficking at the establishment.
Canessa remains in jail after he was denied bail last month.
There are also discussions of a possible plea in the case before any indictment.
Both prosecutors and defense attorneys have agreed to waive the speedy trial requirements to allow those discussions to continue and given that it is a complicated case involving different types of crime, documents showed.
NewsChannel 13 has reached out to Kindlon for comment and will let you know if we hear back.
