COLONIE – Air travel has been a huge headache for travelers lately due to airline staffing shortages and severe weather. With the Fourth of July right around the corner, Albany International Airport is bracing for big crowds.
Airport officials gave a few tips of what you should know before you travel this summer. They recommend that you arrive at the airport two hours ahead of time and to be kind and courteous to fellow travelers.
Back in 2020, the airport saw a drastic decrease in travelers due to the pandemic. Now, things are picking up like it was in 2019.
A TSA spokeswoman says a problem that they are facing is that people are coming through the checkpoints with prohibited items and oversized liquids. Airport officials say when you come into line with prohibited items, it slows down the process. They want people to pay attention to what they are packing and to pack certain items in a checked bag when you arrive at the airport.
