Albany man charged in brutal dog abuse case

A man in Albany is accused of abusing a dog. Jahmir Williams is charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

A 24-year-old Albany man is accused of abusing a dog.

Jahmir B. Williams was charged on Tuesday with felony aggravated cruelty to animals. His arrest came after State Police received information that a dog had been physically abused at an Albany home in September 2023. Police found a video on social media in which Williams reportedly strikes a dog he owns repeatedly with a leash, according to a news release.

Williams was issued an appearance ticket and is due in Albany City Court on Oct. 30. The dog was located in William’s home in good health and was turned over to a local rescue organization, where it will be held at this time.
