Albany man charged in domestic-related stabbing

An Albany man is accused of stabbing a woman.

Officers were called to Sherman Street near Quail Street around 9:30 Sunday evening for a report of a domestic incident. They found a 31-year-old woman who had been stabbed in her chest, legs and hands, they said.

She was treated on scene and taken to Albany Medical Center.

Two young kids who saw what happened were not hurt, police said.

Elijah Thomas, 34, was charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, assault, tampering with physical evidence, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated criminal contempt, criminal contempt and criminal possession of a weapon. 

Thomas was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Monday morning and sent to Albany County Jail.
