Albany man charged with second-degree assault

Albany Police say 40-year-old Darryl Baker, Albany, was charged for assaulting a 74-year-old man in the face after a verbal altercation Saturday evening.

Officers responded to the area of Delaware Avenue and Stanwix Street around 5:05 p.m. for reports of an assault.

The 74-year-old told police that the argument happened because of a parking issue.

Authorities say Baker exited his vehicle and began punching the victim in the face.

Baker was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault.

The victim was treated at Stratton VA Medical Hospital for his injuries, said police.

Baker is scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Sunday morning.
