Man convicted of killing Albany LGBTQ activisit Ahsid Hemingway-Powell
Iaeir Robinson was convicted on Thursday of fatally shooting Ahsid Hemingway-Powell.
An Albany County jury deliberated for about 6 hours after receiving the case in the morning.
At about 3 p.m., the jury asked for testimony to be read back.
Prosecutors said Robinson fatally shot Hemingway-Powell in May 2022 in her Old Hickory Drive apartment in Albany because he had just contracted HIV from her and was worried about people finding out that he was dating a transgender woman.
Prosecutors failed to investigate other suspects, the defense said.
